Speaking from experience - peer crit 1

Comments from the first crit:
Has the problem been clearly Italicdefined (what is it? Is it a genuine problem? Is it appropriate?)
  • Yes, because people don't know what to do/plan in advance so don't use the time effectively.
  • Clearly defined. It is a genuine problem. Definitely appropriate as we really wanted to go away but didn't.
Is the audience being taken into consideration? (Is the tone appropriate for the audience? How will the audience engage with it?)
  • Good consideration of places that people might want to visit. Travel guides would be good as they could give you more of an idea of places to go and things you can do there. Money boxes also remind you of the fact that you would need to save.
  • We think the tone of voice is appropriate. We think the 'bog standard book' could/would work really well if done to a high standard and have a simple quality - like a graphic magazine - something appropriate to graphic students.
What further research is required/would be beneficial? (What/where/who/when? Practical/theoretical/both?)
  • More theoretical research - look at what exists already.
  • More visual research for existing product ideas. Got a lot of potential.
What methods are being used to document the research/development? (Is the research appropriate? Are they effective?)
  • Written sketch book - add you questionnaire in.
  • Sketch book.

The comments I have received are really positive (I'm so pleased - it is becoming apparent people are becoming more open and honest in a critical way - which is benefiting me). There are some clear and defining ways now for me to take this and after struggling with thinking if I had picked a good idea, I now feel confident enough to push it and know that I have something to work on.
